Callicarpa ‘Early Amethyst’ (Beautyberry) is a compact, deciduous ornamental shrub valued for its vivid purple fruit and tidy, mounded growth habit. It produces soft green foliage through spring and summer, followed by small pink-lavender flowers that bloom along the stems. By late summer to early fall—earlier than many other beautyberry varieties—the branches become covered in dense clusters of bright amethyst-purple berries that encircle the stems and often persist after the leaves drop, creating a striking seasonal display.
